Romance Reader (and Writer)

I'm Leanne, I'm 24, and like to read anything as long as it has some romance in it, be it YA, NA, M/M, Historical, Dystopia, Paranormal and Urban Fantasy. I'm a self-published author too.

I don't always write the best reviews but I try and get my feelings across about the books I read.

Thanks for stopping by!

Orange 5

Orange 5 - Ichigo Takano

Hmm...I feel a little cheated that we didn't get to see a future with a happy Naho and Kakeru but at the same time I did still enjoy this ending.

They changed his life enough that he didn't end up committing suicide, though it was very heart-stopping for a page or so wondering if he had done it.

(show spoiler)

Not good for my emotions I must point out!

This is definitely up there with my favourite mangas!

Orange 4

Orenji. 4. - Ichigo Takano

This series is turning pretty amazing. I love how close these six are. They're doing everything they can to make him happier, to stop him from taking his own life, and I think it's actually working.

Volume 5 could be the death of me--making me an emotional, snotty mess--or it could make me so happy I can't stop grinning when I think about it. I'm so hoping for the latter.

Off to start it! See you on the other side!

Orange 3

orange(3) (アクションコミックス(月刊アクション)) - Ichigo Takano

This manga is going to tear my heart out and stomp all over it if by the end of the fifth volume we don't have a happy ending. If the future we see throughout this series ends up happening for them I'm going to cry so bad. Just thinking about it is making me tear up. I mean, they're all so close and to lose someone like that...jeez!

I hope that now we (and they) all know that they're in it together that Naho and Kakura get together and ten years from now that he's going to be there happy. Off to start volume 4.

This Raging Light

This Raging Light - Estelle Laure

*I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

This wasn't my usual book despite me reading most things romance. It didn't focus mainly on the romance, which may have been my issue with it.

But it also felt a little messed up. It didn't read that smoothly for me--this could be down to it being from Netgalley and not a final version of the book--and struggled to get into it until a good quarter of the way into it.

I may need to sleep on it until I can get my thoughts in better order.

So I slept on it and I'm still unsure of how I feel about it. I didn't gel with it much but I had to keep reading just to see how it was all going to play out. Would her mum come back? Would they be found out about living alone? Who was the person/people who were helping Lucille and Wren with the food and stuff? Would she end up in a relationship with Digby?

All of these questions get answered but afterwards I was just wondering what the message is in the story and I still haven't managed to work it out. Is there a message to be learned in it? I'm not sure.

Orange 2

Orange 2 - 高野苺, Ichigo Takano

This is a series I'm going to read back to back. Simply because I need to know what's going to happen. Will they save him? Will she change the future and end up with him? Or will she end up living with the other guy (who, unfortunately, I can't remember the name of)?

It's just a different and emotional story. I even cried a little in this one, too.

I'll be starting Volume 3 in the morning!

Orange 1

Orange 1 - Ichigo Takano, 高野苺

Well this certainly had a different storyline to the manga I've been reading lately. It was so interesting, especially when we saw them 10 years in the future, too. I even had a little cry myself at that point, they were all still so together, only missing a certain person, and the emotions were flying around.

I'm intrigued as to where this story will go. Will she manage to save him and maybe, hopefully, end up in a happy relationship with him herself?

Geek Girl

Geek Girl - Holly Smale

Hmmm...

I've been eyeing this book up for a few months now. Every time I go in my local Asda Living I hum and ahh over whether to buy it but I wasn't sure if I'd like it. But then I saw it as a Kindle deal and just decided to buy it.

This was a quick easy read but I never really fell into the story. I didn't gel with it that much. I don't know if it was Harriets total geekiness-slash-clumsiness-slash-doesnt know when to shut-up-ness but up until the last 15% or so I found her so awkward as a character.

That's why I wasn't really expecting anything romance wise but that end bit has me a little intrigued as to where things could go with her and Nick so I may just have to buy the next book at some point.

Approvals on Netgalley

Stripped (Travesty Book 2) - Piper Lawson This Raging Light - Estelle Laure

I don't use Netgalley very much anymore, mainly because I have enough books to read already, but I like to see if there are any books I've seen or want to read after nosying around Goodreads and/or Amazon.

This Raging Light was on my to-read list so when I saw it available I requested it and was happy to say I was approved.

Stripped wasn't, but it sounds pretty good so I requested that too and once again was lucky enough to be approved.

One I finish Geek Girl, I'll be starting This Raging Light since it has a nearer archive date and it was something I already wanted to read.

Fingers crossed I like both!

The Mistake

The Mistake (Off-Campus Book 2) - Elle Kennedy

I really like this series so far and I can't wait to read more of it!

I didn't think I could like this more than I did the first one and up until the half way point I didn't...and then it all started to come together beautifully and I ended up really falling for Logan, too. He came to his senses (finally!) and did everything he could to get Grace back.

I loved the banter between the teammates again in this one and the way they'd rib each other over their failures relationship wise and just in general. It made me smile a few times at least. I also loved how the author wrote the last chapter, not the epilogue, the one before. I, myself, felt a little like crying about Logan's future so I'm glad it all worked out in the end. And then I also loved the epilogue. They were all so happy!

I can't wait to read Dean's story!

The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson

The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson - Paige Toon

I enjoyed this, probably because I liked being back in the glamorous (or not so much anymore) world of Johnny Jefferson. He's grown up a little since Johnny be Good and I like him a lot more than I did initially. I even loved reading about how Jessie came into existence--he wasn't always an arse! He had cared about people before Meg and the boys.

I have to admit though that Jessie annoyed me quite a bit in this. One minute I was sympathetic to what she was going through and the next she was being a right brat and I wanted to give her a good smack. I know you're only 15 and haven't matured a lot but really?! At least by the end of the book she'd matured quite a bit and realised how badly she'd treated some people.

I'm not sure if I'd class this as being a romance either. It had slight aspects. Two love interests for Jessie but nothing really happened with either of them, she isn't going out with one or the other...but I'm pretty sure that that might change in the next one.

I am interested in reading it at some point but not quite yet.

Reading progress update: I've read 62%.

The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson - Paige Toon

It's nice to be back in Johnny Jefferson land, I didn't realise I'd missed him until I started this lol :-)

Taiyou no Ie Volume 1

たいようのいえ 1 [Taiyou no Ie 1] - タアモ, Taamo

It was an intriguing start but it hasn't fully grabbed me yet. I want to know what's going to happen now that she's confessed that she likes him and he still sees her as a little sister. And what's with the blonde guy who likes her and the blonde girl that likes him? I'd really like to see where it goes.

L DK Volume 12

L-DK, Vol.12 - Ayu Watanabe

I'm still really liking this series, though it's going to have to go on hold for a while now until I can get my hands on new volumes :/ It was just getting interesting too...

King of Hearts

King of Hearts - L.H. Cosway

My first completed read of 2016! And it was pretty amazing!

This pulled at my heart-strings in a big way. I loved the beginning bit where she was lying to him about her relationship preferences and then the modelling bit and then the falling deeper bit. The dad thing threw me a little just before it fast-forwarded 6 years to the time we see in "Hearts of Fire" at the circus. And then it tugged at my heart-strings even more and I just wanted to cry like a baby.

It was lovely to read Oliver King's story. How he started out so different to how we read him in Hearts of Fire, how he was a powerful man in London, how he fell in love with this Alexis we hear so much about... Thinking back, I think I'd like to cry for him.

This a brilliant addition to an already pretty amazing series. I can't wait to read more of them!

Damaged Goods

Damaged Goods - Lauren Gallagher

3.5 stars

Yet another sex-worker book, this one a male escort!

Hmm...This started amazingly well, and I felt the initial connection between them, though on further thought later on in the book it could have just been Austin being good at what he does. But nevertheless I was pulled into the book at the beginning and I loved how it progressed into more.

The thing I wasn't so keen on was how he carried on doing it with other people. It just didn't seem right to me. I understood why but no.

The epilogue perked my rating up a half star.

Saving June

Saving June - Hannah Harrington

I'm not sure about this one. I liked some bits, didn't get others--like where the romance came into it. Fair enough they had some nice moments but others they were at each others throats. It made me cry a little near the end but other than that I wasn't entirely pulled into the story.
